  • The second-seeded Wozniacki, of Denmark, came from behind to beat American Vania King 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 at the beautiful Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Sharapova, seeded 10th, also rallied from a set down to post a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over fellow Russian Vera Dushevina. Sharapova titled here in 2006.

    Belgian Justine Henin came up short in her second-round match as the 31st seed, Gisela Dulko of Argentina, topped the 2004 Indian Wells champ 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.

  • Henin drilled Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia 6-2, 6-2 at the beautiful Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The Belgian was playing her first tennis since losing to Serena Williams in the Aussie Open final.

    The 27-year-old Henin titled here in 2004.

  • Pavlyuchenkova rallied from a first-set loss to take down second-seeded Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 on the hardcourts at Sierra Madre Country Club.

    The 18-year-old Pavlyuchenkova won her first WTA title in her first-ever final match on the WTA Tour.

  • This will mark the 18-year-old Pavlyuchenkova's first-ever final on the WTA Tour.

    Pavlyuchenkova-Sevastova was rained out here on Saturday, forcing Sunday's winner into double duty on Day 6. The world No. 28 Pavlyuchenkova prevailed 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to set-up the final clash with the former Top-10 star Hantuchova.

  • Hantuchova of Slovakia battled from a set down to beat fellow countrywoman Cibulkova 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 on the hardcourts at Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

    This will be Hantuchova's first title match since 2007, a year in which she went 2-2 in finals. The 26-year-old Hantuchova is 3-6 lifetime title bouts.

  • The second-seeded Hantuchova bested the American King, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 on the hardcourts at Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

    Hantuchova will next meet fellow Slovakian and No. 4 seed Dominika Cibulkova, a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 winner over fifth-seeded Agnes Szavay of Hungary.

  • The second-seeded Hantuchova took out Estonia's Kaia Kanepi in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 and a fourth-seeded Cibulkova rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Italian Sara Errani on the hardcourts at Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

    Hantuchova set up a quarterfinal match against American Vania King, while Cibulkova is set to face Hungarian fifth seed Agnes Szavay, who notched a 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1 victory against German Anna-Lena Groenefeld in Day 4's other seeded match.

  • The tournament starts next Wednesday in California.

    "Unfortunately, I will not be able to play in Indian Wells this year because of the back injury that's been bothering me since the end of last season," Safina said on her official website.

  • Jankovic took the first set against the 19-year-old Sevastova, but then dropped the next two in a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 loss on the hardcourts at Sierra Madre Tennis Club.

    Jankovic had eight double faults and just one ace, compared to four aces for Sevastova and just two double faults.

  • The Australian Woodbridge and Woodforde, nicknamed "The Woodies," piled up a record61 doubles titles on the ATP, including a whopping 11 major championships, which is second only to fellow Aussies John Newcombe and Tony Roche's record of 12.     The Woodies were the first tandem to corral five straight Wimbledon titles and are the only team in the Open Era to win at least one major title in six straight years.

    Fresh off her title in Dubai last week, Williams successfully defended her title here, recording her 43rd career singles title.

  • Williams, who needed to rally from a 5-1 deficit in the third set to upend Spain's Laura Pous Tio in the quarterfinals, broke Gallovits' serve to win the first set and rebounded from a lackluster second to win the deciding set convincingly on the red clay at The Fairmont Acapulco Princess on Friday.

    The reigning Acapulco titlist Williams is fresh off her title in Dubai last week.

  • Dementieva dismantled the seventh-seeded Rybarikova in a mere 62 minutes with a 6-0, 6-3 rout. She has dropped just 11 games in three matches this week.

    The seventh-ranked player in the world has already won a pair of titles in 2010, beating Serena Williams for the Sydney crown in January and toppling Lucie Safarova for the Paris Indoors championship two weeks ago.

  • The reigning Acapulco titlist Williams was down 5-1 in the last set but then broke her opponent's serve three times before finally finishing the match on serve by holding at love.

    Williams, who is fresh off her title in Dubai last week, will play Romanian Edina Gallovits in the semifinals. Gallovits topped Canadian Sharon Fichman, 7-5, 6-2, on the red clay at The Fairmont Acapulco Princess on Thursday.

    Zheng has struggled since her run in the Aussie Open ended with a semifinal loss to Justine Henin.

  • Williams, the reigning champ here, was broken twice in the opening set, but with a 5-4 lead the former world No. 1 solved Kanepi's serve for a third time to take the lead.

    The Estonian broke the American on the first game of the second set before succumbing to Williams, 6-4, 6-4, in the one-hour, 46-minute bout.
