  • N.Y.'s Goldthwaite out six weeks after surgery

Secaucus, NJ (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York defender Kevin Goldthwaite underwent successful surgery Tuesday to remove scarring in his adductor tendon and will be out six weeks.

Goldthwaite, 27, was New York's Defender of the Year in 2008 after playing in a career-high 28 games, and started 17 games for the Red Bulls last season.

Goldthwaite should be ready to return for the beginning of the MLS season. New York opens its season on March 27 against the Chicago Fire.
