• TFC's Barrett named MLS Player of the Week

  
  

  New York, NY (Sports Network) - Toronto FC forward Chad Barrett was named Major League Soccer's Player of the Week for Week 17, it was announced on Monday.

  Barrett scored two goals and assisted on another in TFC's 3-1 road win at San Jose on Saturday.

  "The good thing about it is even though I haven't been scoring the team's still been doing well," Barrett told MLSnet.com. "Now I helped the team [on Saturday]." "He gets some chances from working hard and getting about people and you see [Saturday] he put two of them away," TFC coach Chris Cummins told MLSnet.com.

  The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week by a panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television and radio media.
