In the 46th minute of the Red Bulls game vs. Toronto FC on Aug. 17, Cichero struck Toronto FC player Danny Dichio in the head with his elbow and was issued a red card for the offense. Dichio was injured on the play and did not return to the game. This fine and suspension are in addition to the automatic one game suspension and $250 fine for the red card, totaling a two-game suspension and a $500 fine.
Cichero will miss the Red Bulls next match vs. the Houston Dynamo on Aug. 24, and the following match vs. D.C. United on Aug. 30.

The Rapids also announced that assistant coach Gary Smith would assume the club's head coaching position for the remainder of the 2008 season on an interim basis.

First, the 23-year-old's British work permit was approved on Aug. 1, completing his transfer from Major League Soccer's Chivas USA to Aston Villa of the English Premier League. Then, before he could join his new team, he was named to the United States Olympic roster as one of three over-age players on the team, which competed in Beijing, China this past week. Then, most recently, Guzan was named to the full U.S. national team's roster for a World Cup Qualifier on Wednesday at Guatemala.
Through it all Guzan has one goal, which is to "grow and get better as a player." Guzan and his new EPL club know the experiences gained in recent weeks are important steps in that process.

Toronto sent allocation money to New England and swapped places with the Revolution, going from the 13th place in the allocation ranking to 2nd, to acquire the former Bolton Wanderers Academy striker.
"We were lucky to beat out four other teams to get his signature," TFC manager and director of soccer Mo Johnston said. "He's got the pace of Marvell Wynne, and can get by players. We're very thrilled to have him, he adds youth and we're looking forward to working with him." Smith, 21, made his team debut in the Premiership in Bolton's Carling Cup defeat at Charlton Athletic in October of 2006 when he came on as a second half substitute. Smith then joined Carlisle United on loan in January of 2007, and made his debut there against Doncaster Rovers.

First of all, after winning the season series between the L.A. rivals last season for the first time in its brief history, Chivas USA is down 0-1-1 this season, meaning chances of a repeat are gone. A Galaxy win would earn the club the season series for the third time since the rivalry began in 2005.
Secondly, it will be the Galaxy's first fixture since coach Ruud Gullit decided to leave the team for "personal reasons" and team President and General Manager Alexi Lalas was sacked.
