The first two rounds were split between the par-72 Blue Course and par-73 Red Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam. The Red Course hosted the third and final rounds.

The 24-year-old Welshman played his second round on the easier Blue course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam and made eight birdies in a flawless outing. He moved to 13-under 132 for a two-shot lead over three players.

Davies had opened with a 68 Thursday on the par-73 Red course, which will host the final two rounds of the tournament.

Five more players posted a 66, but four of them played the par-72 Blue course. Ireland's Peter Lawrie, Italy's Francesco Molinari, Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez, and Paraguay's Fabrizio Zanotti all trailed Dougherty by a shot at six-under par.

Back injury forces Singh to withdraw

World Cup of Golf to become biennial event
