Knicks reverse position on Iverson

The New York Times reported on Friday that the organization decided late Thursday not to offer the journeyman guard a contract.

It is a surprising turn of events for the former star. After being waived by the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, Iverson apparently was set to land with the struggling Knicks, who expressed a high level of interest in signing the future Hall of Fame guard for the remainder of the season.

The Mavericks posted their fourth consecutive victory with Wednesday's 99-94 overtime triumph versus San Antonio, as Dirk Nowitzki scored 11 of his season- high 41 points in overtime to lead the way. He also grabbed 12 boards for the Mavericks, who received 17 points and 11 boards from Drew Gooden.

"He's playing great basketball and think he's one of the top guys right now in the league and he's really playing at I high level. We need that because of all the injuries we have right now and he's doing everything he can to carry this team," Gooden said of Nowitzki.

Chris Bosh posted 32 points and 17 rebounds, while Marco Belinelli added 19 points for the Raptors, who got 10 points and 11 boards from Andrea Bargnani just one night after a 130-112 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

"I think we made it possible to win the game," said Belinelli. "We made a couple of mistakes especially in the last quarter. We can't make these mistakes against a team like Utah or Denver.
