The Aggies from Utah State will be making their 19th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and the second in a row. Utah State, which is just 6-20 all-time in the Big Dance, suffered a first round loss to Marquette in last season's tournament. This year the Aggies finished with a 27-7 record, and captured the Western Athletic Conference regular-season title, but suffered a loss to New Mexico State in the WAC Tournament.

Siena is 4-5 all-time in the Big Dance, and one of those victories came last season, as Siena defeated Ohio State, 74-72 in double overtime. However, the team followed that victory with a 79-72 loss to Louisville in the second round. This year the Saints earned a spot in the tournament by winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament title. This marks the 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance for Missouri, which owns a 21-22 record at the event. Last season, the Tigers reached the Elite Eight, and the fact that they have returned to the "Big Dance" despite losing three 1,000-point scorers from that squad is a credit to head coach Mike Anderson and his staff. Overall this season, Mizzou is 22-10 overall and finished 10-6 versus Big 12 Conference opposition during the regular season. The club has lost two straight games and three of four heading into this tournament, however, so Anderson hopes that no confidence has been lost.
