  • Franchitti unstoppable at Sonoma

Sonoma, CA (Sports Network) - Dario Franchitti was perfect at Infineon Raceway Sunday, as he led from start to finish for the victory in the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma -- the final road course event of the season.

Franchitti started on the pole and avoided a seven-car pileup on the opening lap. He led all 75 laps, holding off Ryan Briscoe, to claim his fourth win of the season.

Briscoe finished second and captured the lead in the IndyCar Series championship standings. Briscoe holds a four-point advantage over Franchitti with just three races remaining this season.

Scott Dixon was involved in the first lap incident and finished a disappointing 14th. He fell 21 points behind Briscoe.

Rookie Mike Conway finished a career best third, followed by Mario Moraes and Hideki Mutoh.
