• Rachel Alexandra gains top spot in NTRA Poll

  
  

  New York, NY (Sports Network) - Following her 20 1/4-length victory in Friday's Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs, the filly Rachel Alexandra has vaulted to the top of the weekly NTRA poll of three-year-olds. Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird makes his first appearance in the poll by taking the third spot.

  Rachel Alexandra is undefeated in her four starts this year and took 17 of the 20 first-place votes cast. She was eighth in last week's poll.

  The filly received 186 points with Kentucky Derby runner-up Pioneerof the Nile holding onto to second with 161 points.

  Mine That Bird popped into third place with 138 points and two first-place votes.

  Kentucky Derby program favorite I Want Revenge, who was scratched Saturday morning from the Run for the Roses, dropped from first to fourth with 128 points.

  Florida Derby champ Quality Road fell one spot from fourth to fifth with 110 points.

  The colt was not entered in the Kentucky Derby with quarter-cracks of two hooves.

  Musket Man, third in the Kentucky Derby, moved up to sixth from 10th with 109 points.

  The Derby fourth place finisher Papa Clem garnered 87 points and one first-place vote but dropped one spot to seventh.

  Chocolate Candy, fifth in the Kentucky Derby, entered the poll in eighth with 38 points. Kentucky Derby post-time favorite Friesan Fire fell from third in last week's poll to ninth following his 18th place finish in the Run for the Roses. He received 35 points.

  Withers Stakes winner Mr.

  Fantasy rounds out the top ten with 16 points. The colt is expected to start in the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico on Saturday, May 16.

  Other three-year-olds receiving votes are: General Quarters-11; Hull-10; Big Drama-9; Conservative-9; Summer Bird-8; Justwhistledixie-7; Stardom Bound-7; Dunkirk-6; Regal Ransom-6; Capt. Candyman Can-5; The Pamplemousse-5; This Ones For Phil-3; Join In The Dance-3; Four Gifts-2; Take The Points-1.
