Blackmar rallies for first Champions Tour win
San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Phil Blackmar fired a seven-under 64 Sunday to come from behind and win the AT&T Championship by a single stroke after Jay Haas bogeyed the final hole.
Blackmar got into the clubhouse at 10-under-par 203, then had to wait for the final three groups to finish.
Haas was tied for the lead with Blackmar with one hole to play, but stumbled to a closing bogey to wrap up a round of two-under 69. That gave Blackmar his first Champions Tour title.
Andy Bean, playing alongside Haas, could have forced a playoff with a closing birdie, but he parred the last to shoot 70.
Haas and Bean were joined in second place at minus-nine by Tom Kite, who closed with a three-under 68.
Russ Cochran, who shared the second-round lead with Bean, stumbled down the stretch as he closed with a three-over 74 to share 10th place at five-under- par 208 at Oak Hills Country Club.
