  • Reis, Parsons & Jenkins win NFL Europa weekly honors

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Safety CHRIS REIS of the New Orleans Saints, kick returner RICH PARSON of the Oakland Raiders, and wide receiver JUSTIN JENKINS of the Hamburg Sea Devils are the NFL Europa League Defensive, Special Teams and Offensive Players of the Week for games played the third week of the 2007 season (April 28), the league announced today.

Reis punctuated Colognes hard-fought 14-6 victory over the Rhein Fire with a crucial 21-yard interception return for a touchdown with 11:42 remaining in the game. Reis also added one tackle and knocked down a pass.

"I was just hoping to catch the ball," said Reis, a three-time ACC All- Academic honoree at Georgia Tech. "I read the quarterback and got a good break on the ball. I just ran for daylight and I wasnt looking anywhere but the end zone."

Parson, who was allocated to NFL Europa by Oakland, was named Special Teams Player of the Week. He returned four kickoffs for 120 yards, including a 55- yard return in Hamburgs loss to Frankfurt. He also added three punt returns for eight yards.

Parson ranks second in NFL Europa in kickoff-return average (30.7 average).

Jenkins was named Offensive Player of Week 3 after hauling in seven passes for 136 yards and one touchdown in a 20-17 loss to the Frankfurt Galaxy. His sterling performance included a 45-yard catch that set up a Hamburg field goal and an 18-yard touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter that pulled the Sea Devils within three points with 3:12 remaining.

Jenkins ranks third in NFL Europa with 187 receiving yards on 11 catches through the first three weeks of the season.

Dutch linebacker AKWASI MENSAH, the youngest player in NFL Europa at 20, was named National Player of the Week. Mensah, an Amsterdam native in his second NFL Europa stint with the Admirals, led the team with nine tackles against Berlin. He also added one special teams tackle, giving him three for the season.
