  • Texans S Wilson out remainder of season

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Texans are expected to be without safety Eugene Wilson for the remainder of the season due to a pair of broken toes on his left foot.

Head coach Gary Kubiak made the announcement Wednesday that Wilson will have surgery.

"It looks like Eugene is done for the season.

We signed a safety Brian Russell, a veteran safety out of San Diego State," said Kubiak. "He's played a lot of football in this league, so losing Eugene is tough. He played really well for us and done a hell of a job, so that's a tough loss." A second-round draft pick by New England in 2003, Wilson started eight games for Houston this season and had two interceptions.
