• La'Roi Glover announces retirement

  
  

  San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Veteran defensive tackle La'Roi Glover officially announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday.

  Glover spent 13 years as a premier sack specialist, earning six Pro Bowl selections and playing in all 16 regular season games in each of his final 11 seasons.

  A fifth-round selection of the Oakland Raiders in 1996, Glover shined with the New Orleans Saints (1997-2001), where he recorded a 17-sack campaign in 2000.

  "I'm blessed that I was able to play this game that I love for so long. It has been such an incredible journey. The players, coaches, and front office staff in the cities I've played have all given me so many great memories," said Glover in Monday's release. "I still love the game with the same passion I had as a young player in high school, so I plan to always be attached to it in some way, whether commentating, working in the front office, or scouting. But who knows what opportunities await in the next chapter of my life." In 193 career games with Oakland, New Orleans, Dallas and St. Louis, Glover recorded 627 tackles and 83 1/2 sacks.
