COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • McCoy completed 33-of-42 passes, 11 of which went to Jordan Shipley, who finished with a school-record 273 yards receiving. McCoy's yardage total was three shy of Major Applewhite's school record of 473 set in the 2001 Holiday Bowl, while Shipley's total eclipsed Tony Jones' previous school mark of 242 yards set in the 1987 Bluebonnet Bowl.

Cody Johnson also rushed for a pair of scores for the Longhorns (9-0), who outgained UCF 537-151.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Clay ran 15 times for 134 yards and Ball had 27 rushes for 115 yards and a pair of scores for the Badgers (7-2, 4-2 Big Ten), who won their second in a row and beat the Hoosiers for a fifth straight time. Scott Tolzien connected on 11-of-20 passes for 194 yards with a touchdown. Nick Toon caught five balls for 123 yards in the win.

Ben Chappell completed 25-of-35 passes for 323 yards with three TDs and a pair of interceptions for the Hoosiers (4-6, 1-5), who have lost three in a row and six of their last seven contests. Tandon Doss caught six balls for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Stanzi was sacked in the end zone by Corey Wootton and fumbled. Northwestern's Marshall Thomas recovered for a touchdown with 11:46 remaining in the first half as Stanzi remained on the turf.

After a few moments, Stanzi was able to walk off the field under his own power while appearing to favor his right leg. He went to the locker room soon after.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Moore ended with 354 yards and three touchdowns on 28-of-41 throws but also threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

Pettis ended with 105 yards on nine catches, while Titus Young brought in eight balls for 110 yards and a score for Boise State (9-0, 4-0 WAC), which is without a regular-season loss in the last two seasons.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Commissioner Mike Slive made the announcement that Meyer was fined $30,000.

"As I stated last week, I have great respect for Commissioner Mike Slive and the Southeastern Conference and I respect this decision," Meyer said. "There was no intent to criticize an official after being asked about a situation that occurred last Saturday and I apologize for my remarks." The fine is the first since the conference voted to have all violations of SEC Bylaw 10.5.4 enforced by suspensions and fines. The rule states that coaches, assistant coaches, players, support personnel and others associated with the institution's athletics program refrain from public criticism of officials.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Beavers come into their game at California with a 12-6 ATS mark in their last 18 as double-digit underdogs. More importantly for the program, they have been victorious in at least one of those games each of the last four years.

Most college football fans are well aware of how well Oregon State has fared vs.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Taylor completed 17-of-30 passes and rushed for 61 yards on 11 carries for the Hokies (6-3), who became bowl eligible for the 17th straight season with the victory.

Ryan Williams rushed for 179 yards on 26 carries. Danny Coale caught six passes for 60 yards for Virginia Tech, which avoided its first three-game skid since the 2003 season. Matt Waldron made all three of his field goal attempts for the victors.

  • "We are pleased to secure another four years with the ACC," said Scott Ramsey, president and CEO of the Music City Bowl. "Nashville is a great destination for the ACC teams and fans as evidenced by the thousands of fans who have traveled to Music City in the past few years." The ACC has played in the Music City Bowl since 2006. It also features a team from the Southeastern Conference.

"The Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl has been an excellent partner and we look forward to continuing our relationship," said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. "Nashville is a terrific destination for our teams and fans, and it's a great opportunity for the ACC." This year's Music City Bowl is scheduled for December 27.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Scarlet Knights and Black Knights will meet at the $1.6 billion, 82,500- seat building on October 16, 2010.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for Rutgers and we are thankful to our friends at the new Meadowlands Stadium Corporation, along with the Jets and Giants for their partnership," said Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti. "We have witnessed first-hand the construction of the new Meadowlands Stadium and we are looking forward to competing during the inaugural season at the state-of-the-art facility." Rutgers, which also played in the first collegiate football game at Giants Stadium in 1976, has played Army nine times in East Rutherford, the last coming on October 12, 1996.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Bryant was originally ruled ineligible by the school on October 7 for improper conduct stemming from a failure to fully disclose the details of interaction with former NFL player Deion Sanders.

On October 27, the NCAA suspended Bryant for the rest of this season and took away a season of eligibility as a condition for his reinstatement.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Spikes was caught trying to gouge the eye of Georgia running back Washaun Early during last Saturday's 41-17 victory over the Bulldogs, and Meyer announced the senior was suspended for the first half of this week's game against Vanderbilt.

But on Wednesday, Meyer upped that suspension to the entire contest against the Commodores.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Badgers made a brief appearance in the Top-25 following a 6-0 start, but they were knocked from the national rankings with back-to-back losses to Ohio State (31-13) and Iowa (20-10). Following a bye week, Wisconsin returned to play with a 37-0 blanking of Purdue last weekend.

"I really like the way these guys handled their bye week," said head coach Bret Bielema. "And this week, I knew there was this kind of edge. Like I said to a number of people that I talked to, the way they responded. They were kind of hungry and played with a chip on their shoulder and responded out there very well today." The shutout was the program's first since a 14-0 defeat of San Diego State in 2006 and its first in a league game since a 59-0 trouncing of Indiana in 1999. With the win, Wis

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Wildcats are coming off their second bye of the season, as they begin a stretch run that will feature games against the likes of California, Oregon and USC. In its last game, Arizona overcame some sloppy play to capture a 27-13 victory UCLA on October 24th. Following the win and bye week, the Wildcats moved to No.21 in the rankings, as people are starting to take a look at this club.

"I think we're earning more and more respect," said head coach Mike Stoops.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Hurricanes are coming off an emotional win, as they rallied past Wake Forest 28-27, in a Halloween thriller last weekend.

"Offense couldn't do anything, defense struggled in the first half," said head coach Randy Shannon. "And then finally we started getting turnovers and the offense started moving it a little bit, and that helped us out. And I think that shows you where this team can go and be at." It was certainly a gritty effort and a nice bounce back for Miami, which was coming off a 40-37 overtime loss to Clemson the prior week. With the win, the Hurricanes kept alive their hopes in the Coastal Division race. Miami is 3-2 within the conference, including a win over Georgia Tech, and it trails both the Yellow Jackets and Duke, which have only one conference loss each.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Bearcats are one of the top teams in the nation, obviously, but their name never seems to be mentioned when discussing the national title picture despite their No.4 ranking. Cincinnati continued its terrific run last weekend, as it posted a 28-7 victory over Syracuse, marking its seventh win by double figures.

"I thought we came in and it was business-like in a sense," said head coach Brian Kelly. "We got our job done and we want to get the heck out of here." It was the 14th straight regular-season win and the eighth in a row on the road, as Cincinnati is now just one victory away from matching the 1951 team for the best start in school history. The Bearcats, who jumped three spots in the most recent BCS standings to No.5, are still very much in the mix for the nationa

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Wake Forest has suffered three consecutive defeats to fall to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the ACC. One of the league losses came by three points in overtime to Boston College, and last weekend's 28-27 setback to Miami was bitterly disappointing. Wake has just three regular season games remaining, including this weekend's tilt, and needs two more victories to become eligible for a bowl berth.

"We've had a bunch of these this year," said Wake head coach Jim Grobe after the loss to Miami. "This has been a pretty resilient football team. We had a lot of heartbreaks this year, a lot of close losses, and this is another one." As for Georgia Tech, it is a stellar 8-1 overall, including 5-1 in conference action. The Yellow Jackets have ripped off six co

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • For the second consecutive week, Virginia Tech is playing on Thursday. Last time out, the Hokies were shocked on their home field by North Carolina by a 20-17 final. They dropped a five-point decision to Georgia Tech in the previous outing, and an ACC title seems only a remote possibility at this point for the Hokies.

"I don't think we got into rhythm today as a football team," Tech head coach Frank Beamer said after the loss to North Carolina. "We had field position in the first half and we didn't get any points. We fumbled, we didn't get a block and we had some tough penalties at the end. The game just didn't fit." East Carolina is 5-3 overall, including 4-1 in Conference USA action, and can earn bowl eligibility with a victory on Thursday. The most rec

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • USC was still in contention for a national title heading into last weekend's clash with Oregon, but the Trojans were crushed by the Ducks, 47-20. That beating dropped Pete Carroll's team to 6-2 overall, including 3-2 in league play. The setback halted a four-game winning streak and could prevent the Trojans from winning their eighth straight Pac-10 title.

Arizona State has suffered back-to-back losses to fall to 4-4 overall, including 2-3 in conference action. The Homecoming crowd at Sun Devil Stadium watched in disappointment last weekend as ASU fell to California by a 23-21 final. The Sun Devils play Oregon next week, so this two-game stretch is brutal to say the least.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The defending national champions earned the divisional crown with last week's 41-17 rout of Georgia in Jacksonville. The win kept the Gators undefeated on the year and extended the nation's longest win streak to an impressive 18 games, the longest in school history.

Urban Meyer knows the pressure that Florida is under to repeat and he wouldn't have it any other way.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Oregon State has won three of its last four outings to move to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in league play. The most recent triumph occurred over UCLA on Saturday by a 26-19 final in thrilling fashion. All three losses this season have come by 10 or fewer points, and OSU can become eligible for the postseason with a win over California.

Speaking of the Golden Bears, they have won their last three outings to move to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The win streak put the Bears back in the top-25 this week, coming in at 23rd in the nation. Prior to Saturday's tilt against Arizona State, all seven of their contests had been decided by double figures. The game against the Sun Devils was extremely close, however, and Jeff Tedford has to be proud of the fact that his team escaped the road affair with a 23-21 triump

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The 'Horns are coming off arguably their biggest win of the campaign, as they trounced than 13th-ranked Oklahoma State, 41-14, in Stillwater this past weekend to all but lock up the South Division title and their spot in the Big 12 championship game.

"I'm really, really pleased with the team - the way they played, the attitude they played with," said head coach Mack Brown, who is now 12-0 all-time against OSU. "They rose to the challenge against an outstanding Oklahoma State football team." The triumph capped a tough three-game road swing that included wins over Oklahoma (16-13) and Missouri (41-7), giving Texas its third 8-0 start under coach Brown. The Horns also moved up to second in the BCS standings following last weekend's win and they now have the inside track to the national title game with no

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Orange have had little success in the Big East over the last few years, so it's not all that big of a surprise to see the team start off 0-3 in 2009. To Syracuse's credit, it has faced three of the better teams in the league and that includes highly-ranked Cincinnati, which captured a 28-7 decision at the Carrier Dome last weekend.

"Obviously, another disappointing loss," said head coach Doug Marrone, whose Orange club fought valiantly against the undefeated Bearcats. "At the end of the day, we're not a good enough football team to not execute at a very high level and stay in a game or be able to win a game against the No. 5 team in the country." The loss was the third in four games for the Orange, who finished their lengthy six-game homestand an even 3-3. Syracuse is now s

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Under the direction of first-year head coach Brady Hoke, the Aztecs had some trouble in the early going this season with three loses in four tries, but the squad has reversed its fortunes and has won two straight and three of the last four heading into a tough stretch of games.

On Saturday San Diego State was tested, but still managed to keep New Mexico winless on the season by posting a 23-20 win at home.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Both teams are a game behind Iowa in the conference standings, so a loss here would all but eliminate either team from contending for the Big Ten crown. This series couldn't be any tighter, with each team winning 12 of the 24 all- time meetings. The home team has won 12 of the last 16 meetings, although Penn State posted a 13-6 victory in Columbus a year ago.

Ohio State comes into this game having won back-to-back games, including a 45-0 shutout of New Mexico State last weekend. The shutout was the third of the season for OSU.
