  • Calgary moves on to West Final after topping Edmonton

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Henry Burris threw two touchdown passes and Joffrey Reynolds powered the running game, as Calgary edged the Edmonton Eskimos, 24-21, in the Western semifinal at McMahon Stadium.

Burris was 19-of-32 for 264 yards, while Reynolds had 127 yards on 18 carries for the Stampeders, who will travel to play Saskatchewan in the West Final next Sunday.

Ricky Ray completed 18-of-30 passes for 162 yards and added a score on the ground for the Eskimos.

A desperation plunge by Ray on third-and-goal from the one drew the visitors to within 24-21 with a little over seven minutes remaining in regulation.

After Calgary was forced to punt, Edmonton advanced into enemy territory, but consecutive holding infractions and a sack by Devone Claybrooks sealed the Eskimos' fate.

Edmonton opened the scoring early in the second quarter on a nine-yard Noel Prefontaine field goal. The Stampeders quickly tied the game on a 15-yard boot from Sandro DeAngelis, which was set up by Demetris Summers' 91-yard kickoff return.

Calgary led 9-3 after DeAngelis was good from 20 and 21 yards, respectively.

Prefontaine drilled a 36-yarder with 47 seconds remaining and Edmonton trailed by two points at the break when the Stampeders conceded a single on the subsequent kickoff.

Burris' nine-yard toss to Arjei Franklin extended the lead to 16-7, but Skyler Green returned the ensuing kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown with nine minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Calgary tacked on a single at the beginning of the final frame when Burke Dales' punt bounced outside of the end zone. The advantaged stretched to 24-14 on a 29-yard scoring play between Burris and Romby Bryant.

Game Notes Nik Lewis had 100 yards on seven receptions for Calgary, while Bryant caught four passes for 63 yards...Fred Stamps led Edmonton with 76 yards on four grabs...Neither team committed a turnover.
