• Durant, Roughriders top Argos to inch closer in division

  
  

  Regina, SK (Sports Network) - Darian Durant threw for three touchdowns to pace Saskatchewan to a 32-22 victory over the Toronto Argonauts.

  Durant completed 14-of-23 passes for 196 yards for the Roughriders (8-6), who are just a half-game behind Calgary for the top spot in the Western Division. The Stampeders would fall into a tie for first with a loss at Montreal on Sunday.

  Kerry Joseph connected on 8-of-22 passes for 82 yards and was picked off once for the Argonauts (3-11), who have lost four in a row and nine of their last 10 games. Joseph left the game with a concussion but returned with nearly 8 1/2 minutes remaining in the game when backup Cody Pickett seemed to hurt his shoulder.

  Luca Congi conceded in the end zone for a safety, and a 42-yard field goal by Justin Medlock had the Argos within 29-22 with nearly 11 minutes remaining.

  Saskatchewan put together a long drive to essentially put the game out of reach, with Congi kicking a 12-yard field goal with nearly 1 1/2 minutes left.

  Durant hit Chris Getzlaf with a 33-yard TD pass for the lone score of the opening quarter, and Stuart Foord ran for a seven-yard touchdown early in the second for a 14-0 lead.

  Jeff Johnson's 16-yard scoring run got Toronto on the board, but Durant hit Gerran Walker and Weston Dressler with scoring tosses of 20 and seven yards, respectively, for a 28-7 margin.

  Joseph's one-yard TD run in the closing seconds of the half had the spread at 28-14.

  A Congi single and Medlock's 11-yard field goal accounted for the third quarter scoring.

  Game Notes The Roughriders have won the last four meetings and six of the last seven from the Argos...Jamal Robertson rushed 14 times for 86 yards for the Argos, while Wes Cates gained 80 yards on 17 carries for the Roughriders...Dressler seemed to hurt his ankle when landing awkwardly while making a reception in the fourth quarter.
