  • McPherson completed 16-of-20 passes for 151 yards for the Alouettes (15-3), who secured the top spot in the East long ago and will host the conference final on November 22.

    Stephen Reaves, making his first CFL start, connected on 23-of-40 attempts through the air for 209 yards with four interceptions for the Argonauts (3-15), who ended their dismal campaign on an eight-game skid. Chad Lucas caught seven balls for 92 yards in defeat.

  • Both clubs have 8-9 records, which means the winner will make it into the playoffs and live to fight another day.

    Even though the Esks are a game under .500 right now, the good news is that the team is coming off a win last weekend and has won two of the last three games for some semblance of positive momentum. Meanwhile, the Lions could have done themselves a favor and locked up this part of the standings a few weeks ago,butthe team hasdropped back-to-back outings to Calgary and Saskatchewan.

  • Cobb claimed Offensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season after totaling 159 rushing yards, including a 23-yard touchdown in the Tiger-Cats' 24-6 win over Saskatchewan on Saturday.

    He has compiled 1,140 rushing yards this year, becoming the seventh player in the league to reach the 1,000-yard plateau this season.

  • In a statement, CFL commissioner Mark Cohon cited Kelly's language, demeanor, tone and continued pattern of disrespectful behavior toward the media, claiming it reflects the league in a poor manner.

    According to The Winnipeg Sun, Kelly swore on-air in an interview following the Bombers' 48-13 loss to Montreal on Sunday.

  • Calvillo completed 27-of-38 passes for Montreal (14-3), which had already clinched the best record in a league and a bye in the playoffs. Avon Cobourne added 70 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, while Damon Duval connected on all six of his field goal attempts.

    Jamel Richardson led the team in receiving with 65 yards on eight catches, and Brian Bratton and Andrew Hawkins each had a scoring grab in the resounding win.

    Burris also ran for two scores, while Romby Bryant had four catches for 129 yards in the victory. Joffrey Reynolds added 102 yards on the ground on 14 carries.

  • GAME NOTES: The sluggish Toronto Argonauts will try yet again to put an end to their lengthy slide this coming week as they challenge the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium on Friday night.

    The Argos have been floundering all season, despite kicking off 2009 with a win against Hamilton and being 2-2 at the end of July. Since then, Toronto has won just a single game, defeating the Tiger-Cats again by a score of 25-22 in overtime on September 11.

  • Bryant earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades with a career-best performance in the Stampeders' 30-7 win over Edmonton. Bryant produced career highs of nine receptions and 211 yards, including three grabs of more than 40 yards, helping to set up Calgary for a pair of scores.

    Hickman garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors with three sacks and four tackles in the Tiger-Cats' 26-17 victory against Toronto. Two of Hickman's sacks came in the fourth quarter, helping to deny a comeback bid by the Argonauts.

  • Congi had missed a 49-yarder in the waning seconds of regulation, but drilled the eventual game-winner for the Roughriders (9-6-1), who were coming off a tie with Calgary last week.

    The victory moved Saskatchewan into a tie with Calgary atop the Western Division Saskatchewan quarterback Darian Durant completed 27-of-46 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns, which included a game-tying score and two-point conversion with 1:53 left in regulation.     Ricky Ray totaled 239 yards on 25-of-40 passing for the Eskimos (7-9), who are in last place in the West with 14 points. Fred Stamps added 68 yards on six catches, while Arkee Whitlock tallied 71 yards on eight carries.

  • GAME NOTES: The Hamilton Tiger-Cats try to snap a six-game road losing streak on Friday night as they gear up for a meeting against the Toronto Argonauts at the Rogers Centre in Ontario.

    The Ti-Cats have just a single win away from home this season, a narrow 31-28 victory over British Columbia back on July 10, so getting over the hump has been a long and arduous process. Last week, the team nearly made it happen in Montreal as they knocked out starting quarterback Anthony Calvillo, only to see his backup toss a pair of touchdown passes himself in what became a 41-38 defeat for Hamilton.

  • Glenn picked up Offensive Player of the Week honors with a career-best performance in the Tiger-Cats' 41-38 loss to Montreal on Sunday.

    Glenn completed 29-of-44 passes for 506 yards and three touchdowns. He became the first player to throw for more than 500 yards since Jason Maas threw for 540 yards in 2004 with the Edmonton Eskimos. Glenn's 506 passing yards ranks 27th on the CFL's all-time yardage list.

  • Lulay finished with 177 yards passing on 13-of-24 attempts with a pair of interceptions and the game-winning TD toss.

    Harris caught five balls for 92 yards and was the Lions' leading rusher with 89 yards on 21 carries. Lulay ran seven times for 92 yards in the win.

  • Bowman picked up Offensive Player of the Week honors with a monster performance in the Bombers 38-28 triumph over division rival Hamilton in which he totaled 213 yards on 10 receptions with a pair of touchdowns. He had 180 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches in the first half alone and became the first receiver to reach the 200-yard mark in a game since the 2007 season.

    Brown garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades for producing two interceptions and four tackles to key an Alouettes defense that held Calgary to 11 points in a convincing 21-point win. His four interceptions on the year tie him for second place in the league.

  • GAME NOTES: The Toronto Argonauts try to keep themselves from their second, five-game losing streak of the season on Friday night as they entertain the Edmonton Eskimos at the Rogers Centre.

    Losers of nine of their last 10 outings, with the lone victory coming in overtime against Hamilton at home back on September 11, the Argos are holding down the basement of the East Division with a record of just 3-11 entering play this week.

  • Lee, the third overall choice of the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft, was signed by the NFL's Carolina Panthers in April and appeared in all four preseason games before being released in August.
