    Caracas, Venezuela (Sports Network) - Edwin Valero retained his WBC lightweight title with a sixth-round technical knockout of Hector Velazquez.

    Valero (26-0, 26 KOs) was making the first defense of his title and is an ex-WBA champion at 130 pounds (2006-08).

    Velazquez (51-14-2) was in his first title bout.
