  • Calderon, Martinez keep titles

Hato Rey, Puerto Rico (Sports Network) - Ivan Calderon remained unbeaten while retaining his WBO light flyweight championship with a split technical decision over Philippines native Rodel Mayol Saturday night.

It was a rematch between the two fighters with Calderon (33-0-1) keeping his title on June 13 after a technical draw at Madison Square Garden. Calderon wasn't able to continue due to a cut from an accidental headbutt that night.

In the second encounter, Mayol (25-4-1), and Calderon again had the bout stopped due to heads coming together. Two of the judges scored the fight in Calderon's favor after seven rounds, as the Puerto Rico native made the fifth defense of his belt. Calderon also remained unbeaten in 18 title bouts.

Also on the card, WBO super featherweight champion Roman Martinez (22-0-1, 13 KOs) made the first successful defense of his belt by scoring a ninth-round knockout of Colombian Feider Viloria (22-4-1).

This was the 16th straight victory for Martinez since 2003.
