Crawford, Hawks down Grizzlies
Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Jamal Crawford scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half, carrying the Hawks to a 108-94 victory over Memphis.
Josh Smith ended with 17 points, while Marvin Williams and Al Horford netted 15 apiece for Atlanta, which outscored the Grizzlies, 55-39, in the second half to win its third straight game.
Mike Bibby and Joe Johnson each donated 11 points for the victors.
"We're a team we know that can't be beat when we're committed for 48 minutes," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "I think we've proven that this year, but we still have a ways to go." Zach Randolph had 20 points and 14 rebounds the pace the Grizzlies, who dropped their fourth straight game. Rudy Gay scored 18 points, while O.J. Mayo chipped in 16 in defeat in Memphis' final game before the All-Star break.
"It'll be good for our starters," Gay said of the break. "We play a lot of minutes and it'll be good for us to get a little rest and come back fresh." Crawford opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer for a double-digit lead, 85-75, and hit two more from behind the arc for a 96-80 cushion with under eight minutes to play.
The margin reached 20 several minutes later on yet another Crawford three-ball from the left corner, and the Hawks cruised from there.
Memphis finished the first stanza on an 8-1 run to jump in front 30-27. The Grizzlies never trailed in the second, though they went into the break with a slim 55-53 edge.
Atlanta had a strong finish in a back-and-forth third, outscoring the hosts 11-5 over the final 3:05 for an 82-75 lead.
