Raptors return home to host Heat
(Sports Network) - The Toronto Raptors are caught in a funk, having lost three straight and five of seven games, and will kick off a three-game homestand tonight versus the Miami Heat at Air Canada Centre.
The Raptors went 1-3 on a four-game road trip and are coming off Wednesday's 104-91 setback to the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena. Chris Bosh posted 32 points and 17 rebounds, while Marco Belinelli added 19 points for the Raptors, who got 10 points and 11 boards from Andrea Bargnani just one night after a 130-112 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
"I think we made it possible to win the game," said Belinelli. "We made a couple of mistakes especially in the last quarter. We can't make these mistakes against a team like Utah or Denver. Now the game is over so we have to think about the next games at home. We have three games at home, and of course we have to win those games." Toronto will also host Orlando and Indiana up north and is 3-1 as the host this season.
Miami has dropped two in a row and three of four games, including Wednesday's 105-90 loss at Atlanta. Michael Beasley, who had scored just 15 points in his last two games combined, paced Miami with 21 points and nine rebounds. Dwyane Wade shot just 6-of-18 from the floor and ended with 15 points in defeat.
Wade had scored at least 20 points in 23 consecutive regular-season contests, a Miami franchise record.
"It was big, man," Hawks star Joe Johnson said of limiting Wade. "But like I say, it was a team effort. It's nothing that I did by myself. I just try to stay in front of him, make his shots tougher and his catches tougher. As a team, I thought when he got in the paint, we were all there to corral him and make him either pass the ball or take a tough shot." In injury news for the Heat, forward Udonis Haslem (shoulder) and guard Quentin Richardson (back) are questionable for Friday's game.
Toronto won two of three matchups with Miami a season ago, but had its six- game winning streak in the series come to an end with a 108-102 loss on March 6, 2009. Miami has lost four of five trips to Canada.
