Report: Hornets' Paul out 3-4 weeks
New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul will reportedly be sidelined the next 3-to-4 weeks due to a severely sprained left ankle.
Yahoo! Sports reported an MRI taken on Saturday found no structural damage, but because it's a severe sprain Paul is expected to be on crutches for two weeks.
Hornets head coach and general manager Jeff Bower is expected to give an update on Paul's condition Monday.
The standout point guard left Friday's game against Portland after falling awkwardly on his left ankle late in the third quarter.
Paul drove to the basket and was met by Trail Blazers center Joel Przybilla. The guard went up for a jump-pass and came down on Przybilla's foot.
He spent several moments on the floor before being helped to the locker room with the aid of teammates and trainers. He finished the game with eight assists and just three points on 1-of-8 shooting.
It was deemed a sprained ankle after the 86-78 setback.
So far this season Paul is averaging 23.8 points, 9.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds a game.
