Bibby, Pachulia return to Hawks
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks re-signed unrestricted free agent guard Mike Bibby and forward Zaza Pachulia on Monday.
Bibby, 31, has guided the Hawks to two playoff appearances since being acquired from Sacramento during the 2007-08 season. Atlanta lost in the first round to Boston in 2008 but advanced to the second round in 2009 before falling to Cleveland.
Last season, the point guard averaged 14.9 points, 5.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 79 regular season games. In 11 seasons with the Grizzlies, Kings and Hawks, Bibby has career averages of 16.4 points and 6.1 assists in 802 games.
"We are very pleased to keep Mike as part of our team," said Rick Sund, the Hawks'executivevice president and general manager.
"His consistent production and leadership over the last year-and-a-half have been major components to the team's success." According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Bibby's deal is worth an estimated $18 million, while Pachulia inked a four-year, $19 million contract.
Pachulia, a six-year NBA veteran, appeared in 77 games last season with Atlanta, averaging 6.2 points and 5.7 rebounds in roughly 19 minutes per game.
"Zaza is a valuable piece of our frontcourt rotation," Sund added.
"In addition to his rebounding ability and scoring touch, his hustle and passionate play have connected with his teammates and the fans. He has excelled off the court as well, becoming a fixture in the Atlanta community."
