  • Report: Rubio to remain in Spain for two years

Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Minnesota Timberwolves first-round draft pick and international sensation Ricky Rubio will reportedly play out his contract with DKV Joventut, choosing to remain with the Euroleague team for the next two seasons.

According to El Periodico, a Barcelona newspaper, Rubio will withdraw his contract lawsuit against his club.

He would have had to pay an expensive buyout if he were to negate his contract and play for Minnesota next season.

Rubio, 18, was selected with the fifth overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft and had been expected to be one of the top rookies in the upcoming NBA season. Should he play out his contract, he will not have to pay a buyout and will join the T'Wolves for the 2011-12 season, when he is just 20 years old.
