  • Utah will also welcome Boston to Salt Lake City, where it has won five straight and owns a 27-8 mark this season. It is three games behind Denver for the Northwest lead and fourth in the Western Conference standings, just a game ahead of both Oklahoma City and Phoenix.

    The Jazz had a brief two-game winning streak halted and lost for the third time in five tries with Friday's 110-100 loss at Phoenix. Carlos Boozer logged 23 points and 16 rebounds, while C.J. Miles recorded 17 points and Paul Millsap added 12 and 11 rebounds in losing fashion.

  • Denver has won the first two tests of the residency and seven straight at home, including Thursday's 93-80 victory versus the New Orleans Hornets. Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points and grabbed a career-best 18 rebounds for the Northwest Division-leading Nuggets, who are three games ahead of Utah in the division and a half-game in front of Dallas for the No. 2 spot in the West.

    "I was going for 20 (rebounds). That was my goal," Anthony said. "I knew we were going to need it." Nene added 20 points and J.R. Smith 17, as Denver won for the eighth time in nine tries overall and improved to 30-5 as the host. Dating back to March of last season, Denver has won 40 of its last 45 home games.

  • Boston has won three in a row and opened the trek with last night's 94-87 victory at Houston behind 26 points from Paul Pierce and 19 points and six assists out of Ray Allen. Kevin Garnett chipped in 15 points and eight rebounds for Boston, which improved to 23-12 on the road and is tied with Atlanta for the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

    "We just played aggressive basketball in the fourth quarter," Garnett said. "The second unit played big tonight." The Celtics will also visit the Utah Jazz on the trip and are 10 1/2 games ahead of Toronto in the Atlantic. Pierce tied Sam Jones (871) for ninth place on the Celtics' all-time games played list, while Don Nelson is eighth with 872 games and Larry Bird is seventh

  • Memphis and Houston are both 5 1/2 games behind Portland for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West, but time is running out for both teams. The Grizzlies lost for the third time in nine tries when they dropped a 107-94 decision to the Rockets on Wednesday, as Zach Randolph racked up 30 points and 15 rebounds in a losing effort.

    Rudy Gay scored 14 points, while Marcus Williams and Mike Conley each netted 11 for the Grizzlies, who had their franchise-record seven-game road winning streak snapped.

  • The Heat have lost the first three meetings with Charlotte this season, but are 8-3 as the host in the series.

    Miami is 3-2 on the homestand and will try to put the brakes on a two-game slide tonight. In Thursday's 108-102 overtime setback versus the Orlando Magic, Dwyane Wade had 36 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Heat, who erased a 12-point deficit in the final five minutes of regulation before losing for only the third time in nine tries.

  • The Raptors will also visit Minnesota and are 10-23 away from Canada this season.

    They are currently 2 1/2 games ahead of Chicago, which has dropped 10 in a row to hamper its playoff chances.

  • Chicago has lost 10 straight and is winless in its last six road games. The Bulls lost for the fifth straight time at home with Friday's 92-85 setback to the Cleveland Cavaliers, as Taj Gibson finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds in a losing effort.

  • Evans was elbowed in the mouth late in the fourth quarter and started bleeding, allowing the guard to be taken into the locker room for x-rays where it was determined he suffered the head injury.

    He will reportedly not travel with the team to Los Angeles for Sunday's game against the Clippers as he will likely undergo more testing as he may have also suffered a broken jaw.

  • Pau Gasol registered 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Lakers, who lost center Andrew Bynum to a strained left Achilles in the third quarter. He'll be evaluated on Saturday.

    Lamar Odom had 18 points for the Lakers, who have won five in a row and now lead Denver by four games for the top record in the Western Conference.

  • John Salmons netted 27, with seven rebounds and five assists as the Bucks won for the seventh time in their last eight outings. Andrew Bogut added 21 and 11 boards for the Bucks, who outscored the Kings 13-7 in the second extra period.

    Beno Udrih paced Sacramento with 26 points and nine assists as the Kings fell for the third time in four games and lost rookie standout Tyreke Evans for both overtime periods. He was elbowed in the mouth late in the fourth quarter and was taken to the locker room for x-rays.

  • Roy was handcuffed after stroking a three-pointer for a 9-6 lead and wouldn't score again until his team needed him, holding for a final shot.

    He sidestepped Alonzo Gee out at the top of the key, stepped over the line and leaned in for the game-winner.

  • Stoudemire added seven rebounds and topped his previous season-high of 41, as the Suns captured their sixth win in eight games to remain in a tie for fifth place with Oklahoma City, which beat Toronto earlier Friday. Robin Lopez added 19 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-9 shooting, and Steve Nash posted 15 points and 10 assists.

    Jason Richardson provided 11 points and seven boards for Phoenix, which got the win despite not coming close to matching the NBA season-best 152 points it scored in its last game -- a win over Minnesota.

  • Granger, who sat out Wednesday's loss to the Cavaliers after taking an elbow to the cheek a night earlier, helped the Pacers beat the Pistons for a fifth straight game.

  • An MRI revealed an increased amount of fluid in Deng's calf, and the team has opted to rest the 24-year-old to decrease the inflammation.

    Deng, who is averaging 18.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game this year, has not played since March 9th against Utah, the fifth loss in Chicago's current nine-game slide.

  • Stuckey had missed the last six games after collapsing on the bench during a March 5 game at Cleveland. He was taken away on a stretcher and then spent time in a hospital, but tests for any possible life-threatening condition have reportedly come back negative.

    Ben Wallace also made his return on Friday. Wallace hadn't played in the last eight games due to a sore right knee.

  • Livingston has appeared in 10 games for the Wizards after signing a pair of 10-day contracts with the club. He has put up 4.9 points and 3.3 assists in 15.5 minutes per contest.

    Injuries have derailed the 24-year-old's once promising career.

  • San Antonio is aiming for its second straight season-series sweep of the Warriors and has won the first two matchups against them in 2009-10. The Spurs are unbeaten in their last seven meetings with Golden State, which has fallen in its last 23 trips to the Alamo City.

    The Spurs haven't lost to Golden State at home since drafting future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan with the No. 1 overall pick in 1997. They are 24-10 at the AT&T Center this season and hope a return home will get them back into the win column. San Antonio split a two-game set in Florida, first beating the Miami Heat on Tuesday before losing at Orlando by a 110-84 score the following night.

  • Boston is tied with Atlanta for the third seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Rockets sit 4 1/2 games off the eighth and final postseason berth in the West. The Rockets have helped themselves with a season-high four-game winning streak and will try to close out a perfect four-game homestand Friday.

    Houston kept its foot on the proverbial gas pedal with Wednesday's 107-94 victory versus the Memphis Grizzlies, as Aaron Brooks led all scorers with 31 points and made all seven of his three-point attempts to lead the charge. Brooks set the Rockets' single-game record for most three-pointers made without a miss.

  • The Cavaliers are 5 1/2 games ahead of Orlando for the top seed in the conference and have ripped off five straight victories, including Wednesday's 99-94 triumph versus the Central-rival Indiana Pacers at Quicken Loans Arena. NBA leading scorer LeBron James nearly had his second straight triple-double, finishing with 32 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, while Antawn Jamison added 17 points and nine rebounds in Cleveland's 24th win in 28 tries.
