• Truax named new CBA commissioner

  
  

  Albany, NY (Sports Network) - The Continental Basketball Association has named Dennis Truax its commissioner for the 2008-09 season.

  Truax will become the 20th commissioner in league history.

  He had most recently served as deputy commissioner and worked as the CBA's director of operations for two seasons.

  "This is a great honor to be named commissioner of the CBA," said Truax. "To be included with such men like Jim Drucker, Jay Ramsdell and Gary Hunter is a privilege and an honor. They along with all of the past commissioners have done an outstanding job and I hope to be able to follow their example and continue the tradition that they have left for me." Jim Coyne had been serving as acting commissioner since May 2007 and will return to the Albany Patroons, who will return to league play for the 2008-09 season.
