New York will be without one of its prized defensive playmakers for road dates against Houston and New Orleans as well as home games against New England and Tennessee.
"This is a situation that resulted from an over-the-counter dietary supplement that contained a substance that I did not know violated the League's policy," Pace said in a statement. "I am responsible for what I put into my body and I should have paid closer attention to the League's guidelines. I regret that this has happened and apologize to my teammates, the entire Jets organization as well as the fans. Hopefully, this does not distract from our ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl." The seventh-year pro remains eligible to participat...

The football equivalent is on the left coast, in the form of USC. The Trojans possess a seemingly never-ending conveyor belt of talent, and the result is seven straight campaigns of 11 wins or more, seven Pac-10 crowns in a row, seven consecutive BCS Bowl appearances and a couple of national titles sprinkled in.
The 2008 campaign brought more of the same, as Pete Carroll's troops won 12 of their 13 games, with the one blemish being a 27-21 upset loss at Oregon State in late September. The Trojans bu...

"It's nice to have to have a naturally left-footed player," Sounders coach Sigi Schmid said. "He can play left back, play center back in a pinch, and he can also play wide and run the whole line for us.
He is an attacking left fullback with good size and athleticism. He's very willing to get forward out of a defensive position and does a good job defensively." The 28-year-old, who most recently played for Liberia Mia of the Costa Rican first division, will join Sounders FC after completing his call-up to the Costa Rican national team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Suffice it to say, though, that one of my truest athletic heroes is gone.
As anyone in my age group can attest, Arguello was a boxing staple of Saturday afternoons in the final chapter of his storied career, dominating the lightweight division with a cool brilliance before trying -- unsuccessfully -- to become a four-division champion five pounds north.
-
Nicaraguan presidential spokeswoman Rosario Murillo confirmed Arguello's death while the La Prensa newspaper stated Arguello was found with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The 57-year-old Arguello, who was elected mayor of Managua last year, retired in 1995 after several comebacks with a record of 82-8, which included 65 knockouts.
