Papajohns.com Bowl

Jan. 2, 2010. 2:00 pm EST - ESPN

Birmingham, Ala., Legion Field

Connecticut 20 - South Carolina 7

The Papajohns.com Bowl marked the return of post-season football to the city of Birmingham, which previously hosted the Dixie Bowl from 1947-1948, the Hall of Fame Classic from 1977-1985 (relocated to Tampa, FL and now named the Outback Bowl), and the All-American Bowl from 1986-1990 (cancelled when the SEC awarded their championship game to the city).

In the inaugural game, played on December 23, 2006, the South Florida Bulls, the Big East's representative, beat Conference USA's East Carolina Pirates, 24-7 in front of an announced crowd of 32,023. Benjamin Williams scored the game's first points just over ninety seconds into the game as one of his two touchdowns on the day, and earned the game's MVP honors. Notably, South Florida had previously been a member of C-USA.

The 2007 matchup featured the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the Cincinnati Bearcats. As with last year's game, the participants were a former Conference USA member (Cincinnati) and a current C-USA member (Southern Miss).

Baylor Bears vs. Kansas State Wildcats 9:30 ET

Posted on 3/12/2010 12:00:00 AMby North Shore Sports, INC

The semifinal round of the Big 12 Tournament presents NCAAB bettors with an excellent match-up to take in when the 21st ranked Baylor Bears (25-6, 16-8 ATS) collide with the 9th ranked Kansas State Wildcats (25-6, 17-8-1 ATS); tip is set for 9:30 ET from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO.

Bookmaker Sportsbook oddsmakers currently have the Wildcats tagged as two-point favorites in this neutral court battle with the game ‘total’ set at 145.

For the second time in a five-day span, Head Coach Scott Drew’s kids beat the ever living snot out of in-state rival Texas. This time, it came on a neutral court, but the end result was quite the same. The Bears rolled the Longhorns 92-77 as three-point home chalk back on March 6th, and followed it up with an 86-67 beat down as one-point chalk last night in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tourney. They played a cutthroat style of ball at both ends of the court limiting the Horns to just 36.4 percent shooting defensively while ripping the twine for an 86-point outburst on 53.6 percent shooting at the other end of the court.

Looking to win the Big 12 Tournament for the first time in the programs history, Baylor enters tonight’s do or die match-up with the Wildcats in the midst of a five-game winning streak; they covered the college basketball odds in each of their L/4 outings. Baylor stands a $$$-making 10-5 SU & ATS away from its own court this season, and has gone 4-1 SU & ATS in its five neutral court battles.

Head Coach Frank Martin’s squad bounced back from dropping each of its L/2 games by thoroughly dominating a very game Oklahoma State squad en route to picking up the 83-64 victory. F Jamar Samuels had a monster game going off for a game high 27 points while pulling in 10 rebounds. G Jacob Pullen drained five of his eight shots from beyond the arc, and G Denis Clemente dished off 10 dimes. Though OK State stud James Anderson tallied 27 points, the Wildcats held the Cowboys to just 39.6 percent shooting after they torched the nets in their first round match-up with the Oklahoma Sooners.

K-State tied Baylor for the second best mark in the Big 12 this season only behind the top ranked Kansas Jayhawks. They too took care of business away from their home court going 11-3 SU & 8-5-1 against the CBB odds. In their five neutral court games this season, the royal purple and silver stand 4-1 SU & 3-2 ATS.

The Wildcats went into Waco back on January 26th and came away a 76-74 winner as 1.5-point underdogs. The win snapped their two-game losing streak in the series. These teams have split the L/10 games overall (5-5 SU), but Baylor holds a 6-4 ATS advantage during that stretch.

Baylor is 2-0 SU and ATS when revenging a home loss vs. an opponent this season, and the underdog has cashed in 10 of the L/11 meetings between these programs. However, K-State is 9-3 SU & 8-2 ATS when playing against excelled offenses averaging 77+ PPG, and they’ve gone 18-3 SU & 15-6 ATS when installed the favorite this season.

March Madness has finally arrived! Are you set up to take advantage of all the CBB betting action? If not, head over to Bookmaker Sportsbook and root your team on all the way to the Final 4!
