Philadelphia Eagles vs. Chicago Bears 8:20 ET
Posted on Fri, 20 Nov 2009 00:00:00 GMT by North Shore Sports, INC
Bookmaker Sportsbook customers will get to dig into a crucial NFL betting affair on Sunday Night Football when the Philadelphia Eagles (5-4, 5-4 ATS) get it on with the Chicago Bears (4-5, 4-5 ATS). The winner of this game will have a huge leg up on the other in the chase for the two Wild Card slots in the NFC. The loser is going to have a very difficult climb back to the top of the heap amongst non-division leaders in the conference.
The Eagles are slumping badly right now, and the last thing that they needed was an injury to arguably their best players. RB Brian Westbrook will miss this game with a concussion. If there's good news, it's that backup RB LeSean McCoy has proven to be a viable asset as a reserve, as he has rushed for 353 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the season.
Philly dug itself a huge hole last Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium, and though it clawed back into the game, it ultimately came up short with a 31-23 defeat. It was the second straight loss for the Eagles, who are in the midst of a stretch where they play four out of five games away from Lincoln Financial Field. HC Andy Reid has to be disappointed with the way that his defense has played lately, as it has allowed at least 17 points to four straight opponents after holding four of its first five foes to 14 or fewer points.
However, when you're talking about slumping teams, the Bears have to be right around the top of that list. With every pass that he throws, QB Jay Cutler brings out more boos in the Windy City, and a loss on Sunday night could spell disaster for the brass in Chicago. Cutler, who cost the Bears a slew of draft picks and QB Kyle Orton in the offseason, has thrown a whopping 17 interceptions this season, five of which came in last week's 10-6 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. Parlay his struggles with the fact that second-year RB Matt Forte is pacing the third worst rushing attack in the NFL, and the recipe is there for a disaster for Chicago's offense.
The defense isn't faring much better either, as the rush 'D' ranks 21st in the NFL, allowing 118.4 yards per game on the ground. Imagine how much better that unit would come in at if it had the services of LB Brian Urlacher!
The road team is 5-2 ATS in the L/7 meetings between these two NFC powerhouses. Last season, the Bears knocked off the Eagles 24-20 in the Windy City, and the Eagles will hope to avenge that loss. The oddsmakers have lined them as three-point favorites to do so, while they've lined the 'total' at 45.
Philadelphia is only 2-7-1 in its L/10 games as a road favorite of a field goal or less, but the Bears are only 1-7 ATS in their L/8 games as an underdog. Someone has to cover the spread in this one, though, and no matter whether you think the guys clad in green or the monsters of the Midway are going to get the job done, Bookmaker.com is your one-stop shop for all of the Week 11 NFL betting action you can handle!
