  • New York Yankees vs. Atlanta Braves 7:00 ET

Posted on Tue, 23 Jun 2009 00:00:00 GMT by North Shore Sports, INC

Turner Field and the Atlanta Braves (33-36, -$907) welcome in the New York Yankees (38-31, -$848) for the first of three MLB Interleague betting affairs starting Tuesday night. Neither of these clubs has been kind to MLB bettors throughout the 2009 season evidenced by their combined deficit of close to $1800 on the year. The Yankees currently sit four-games in back of the Boston Red Sox for the top spot in the AL East, while the Braves sit four-games in back of the NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies. The Yankees invade “Hotlanta” in terrible form after dropping four of six against both the Washington Nationals and Florida Marlins. In Interleague play, Derek Jeter and the overpriced Yanks are 5-7 overall costing baseball bettors a whopping $820 overall. NY has been kinder to its betting backers as a visitor evidenced by its 17-17 overall record (-$381), but enters tonight’s spot 4-6 its L/10. The Braves sit a game over .500 against the American League this season (5-4) making their betting backers $180 on the year. They enter tonight’s match-up off a 2-0 shutout against the Chicago Cubs to improve its home mark to 16-17 overall costing MLB bettors $726 on the year. These esteemed franchises last met in Interleague play back in 2006 when the Yanks took two of three at Yankees Stadium. After NY swept the Braves in the 1999 World Series, they’ve won five of the nine overall meetings since.

Rookie right-hander Tommy Hanson currently sits as a short -115 home favorite in Game 1 of this three-game baseball betting set, with the ‘total’ set at 9.5 over -115.

It’s been nothing but a nightmare for Chien-Ming Wang since going down with a season ending injury last season. He’s yet to rediscover his dominating form and has been lit up to the tune of a 0-5 record and 12.65 ERA this season. That said; he earned another shot at a start after churning out what Manager Joe Girardi thought was his most promising effort of the season. He limited the Washington Nationals to six hits and three earned runs through five innings of work striking out four and walking a pair. Far from dominating, but after giving up a combined 32 ER’s in his previous five outings, the skipper will take it.

Since getting blasted for six hits and six earned runs in his MLB debut back on June 7th, Tommy Hanson has earned victories in each of his last two starts. He’s given up just 12 hits and two earned runs combined his last two outings vs. the Reds and Orioles, but he’s been wild. He’s already walked 10 batters through his 17+ innings of work, but he’s also shown the ability to get out of jams by using his plus stuff. He’ll be looking to impress the home crowd in his first career start against the “Bronx Bombers”.

New York is 2-4 as a road underdog in the +100 to +125 range this season, and they’re a bankroll depleting 3-8 the L/11 times they were installed an underdog of any size. The Braves have gone a pathetic 1-7 (-$740) as a home favorite in that same $$$-line range, but they’re a respectable 18-13 (+$380) vs. +.500 opposition. Under bettors cashed their tickets in each of these teams L/4 meetings.

Will the Yankees continue to dominate the Braves (10-4 l/14 meetings), or will Atlanta build upon its shutout win last night and protect its house? Once you believe to have the answer to that question, login to your Bookmaker Sportsbook account and get in on the MLB betting action!
