Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 10:05 ET
Posted on Fri, 19 Jun 2009 00:00:00 GMT by North Shore Sports, INC
Two of the biggest $$$-making teams of the 2009 MLB betting season hook up tonight for the first of three when the Los Angeles Dodgers (44-23, +$1781) and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (35-29, +$820) duke it out to become the toast of Tinseltown. Manager Joe Torre’s Dodgers enter tonight’s game winners in four of their L/5 after capturing their Interleague betting home series against the Oakland A’s. They rallied late to capture a 3-2 victory last night, and will look to continue its fine play on the road. Entering tonight’s play, the Dodgers are the single best bet in the “Bigs” hauling in a whopping $1781 for their baseball betting backers. They’ve dominated their opposition at home (25-10, +$1022), but they’ve been just as good as a visitor winning 19 of their 32 road games for a profit of $759 overall. They’ve also posted a winning mark in their nine Interleague match-ups (5-4), and own a comfortable lead in the NL West nine-games ahead of the SF Giants. As for the other LA team, it’s white-hot winning six in a row after going into the bay and sweeping what was a good Giants team at home. Overall, Manager Mike Scioscia’s club has put $820 worth of profit in its betting backers pockets as they’re one of only four MLB teams to post positive returns both home (+284) and away (+536). These teams already clashed for three games earlier this season with the Angels grabbing the upper hand winning 2-of-3.
Chad Billingsley and the Dodgers currently sit as short -118 road favorites against Joe Saunders and the Angels with the game ‘total’ set at 8 over -115 per current Bookmaker MLB odds.
Billingsley pitched a whale of a game his last time out against Texas. He tossed seven innings of three-run ball to capture his ninth win of the season; tied for the NL lead. He’s been an innings eater for the Dodgers starting rotation thus far throwing at least six innings in 13 of 14 starts, and lasting at least seven innings eight times. He’s also allowed three or fewer runs in all but one of his starts this season. He followed up a stellar 4-0 April with a subpar 2-3 May, but is right back on track in June going 3-0 with a 2.41 ERA in three starts. In three career starts against the Angels, the fireballer is 1-2 with a 2.84 ERA. His start vs. the Halos this year was the lone start he surrendered more than three earned runs!
Opposing the Dodgers ace will be veteran lefty Joe Saunders who rediscovered his command his last time out against the SD Padres. He tossed 8.1 innings of one-run ball and secured his first win since May 21st at Seattle. Joe’s been at his best in front of the hometown crowd this year going 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA allowing just 37 hits and 13 ER’s through 42+ total innings of work. He faced the Dodgers twice last season splitting both outings and carries a 2.92 career ERA and 1.30 WHIP with him into tonight’s start.
The Dodgers have failed in tonight’s role this season going 3-5 on the road with a $$$-line of -100 to -125, but they’re a fantastic 15-6 vs. left-handed starters and 14-9 against +.500 opposition. The Angels are 10-5 in June and a $$$-making 8-1 in Interleague play. The ‘under’ is 4-0-1 in Billingsley’s L/5 starts as a road favorite, and it’s 11-5 in the Angels L/16 home games.
Can the Dodgers even up the overall season series at two apiece, or will the Angels build upon its six-game winning streak? Once you believe to have the answer to those questions, login to your Bookmaker Sportsbook account and get in on some Interleague betting action!
