Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Kansas City Royals 8:10 ET
Posted on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 00:00:00 GMT by North Shore Sports, INC
A pair of fireballers will look to lead their respective teams to victory in Wednesday night Interleague betting action at Bookmaker Sportsbook when Max Scherzer and the Arizona Diamondbacks (27-38, -$1359) square off against potential Cy Young Award winner Zach Greinke and the Kansas City Royals (29-34, -$479). The Royals took the lead in the three-game MLB betting series last night as Gil Meche tossed a complete game gem limiting the D’Backs to no runs and just four hits. The victory was the Royals fourth in a row and improved their record to 29-34 on the year where they sit 4.5-games in back of the AL Central Division leading Detroit Tigers. KC has cost baseball bettors $$$ overall this season, but they sit four games over .500 within Kauffman Stadium (19-15) and churned out a $192 profit for its betting backers. Picked by some to capture the NL West crown, Arizona has grossly underachieved this season en route to becoming the second worst bet in all of baseball (-$1359) only behind the Washington Nationals who’ve put their supporters in the poorhouse (-$2842). The D’Backs currently sit 16-games in back of the division leading Los Angeles Dodgers, but as a visitor, they’ve been decent going 13-15 overall for a +$29 profit on the year.
Zach Greinke and the Royals currently sit as lofty -165 home favorites against Max Scherzer and the Diamondbacks with the game ‘total’ set at 7.5 under -125 per current Bookmaker MLB odds.
Max Scherzer continued his progression in becoming a top notch MLB pitcher his last time out against division rival San Francisco. The righty tossed a career high 7 2/3rd innings and 116 pitches to pick up his third victory of the season. He limited the Giants to just three hits and no runs while striking out six and walking one. The righty’s live arm hasn’t surrendered an earned run through 12.2 combined innings of his last two starts. He’s been nasty for opponents to solve as a visitor as his ERA drops from 3.63 overall to a miniscule 1.59 on the road, and he’s allowed just 25 hits and six earned runs through his 34 total innings of work. This will be his first career start against Kansas City.
Zach Greinke bounced back from his worst effort of the season at Toronto with a fine outing against Cleveland where he limited the Tribe to just six hits and three earned runs through 7.1 innings of work. Unfortunately, his bullpen surrendered the lead after allowing each of the last two batters he let on base score, and the Royals lost 4-3 in extra’s. The righty has been exceptional overall (8-2, 1.72 ERA), but even more so at home where he’s a perfect 6-0 with a 1.37 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. He’s 0-0 in two career starts against the D’Backs. One game saw him get lit up, and the other saw him dominate.
Arizona comes into tonight’s game on another three-game losing streak. However, they’re 5-1 in the game played immediately after dropping three in a row. They’re also 4-2 as a road underdog of +150 to +175. Surprisingly, the Royals have fared well against winning teams and poorly against losing teams this year going 11-20 overall. They’re also a bankroll depleting 5-11 the L/16 times when installed the chalk.
Can the Snakes even up the season series behind their young phenom, or will Greinke notch his ninth win of the season? Once you believe to have the answer to that question, login to your Bookmaker Sportsbook account and get in on the MLB betting action!
